Presentation Tactics That Work!

This 1-day practical course will help anyone who presents at work or to external audiences, including individuals for whom public speaking induces fear. The module is broken down into four main categories: how to deal with presentation anxiety, developing content, the audience factor and why aesthetics matter. Critical aspects such as research and scope will also be discussed. The facilitator will task delegates with working in teams on three Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, and to apply the content they would have discussed in the above four categories

Course Overview

This 1-day practical course will help anyone who presents at work or to external audiences, including individuals for whom public speaking induces fear. The module is broken down into four main categories: how to deal with presentation anxiety, developing content, the audience factor and why aesthetics matter. Critical aspects such as research and scope will also be discussed. The facilitator will task delegates with working in teams on three Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, and to apply the content they would have discussed in the above four categories.

Daly, McCroskey and others wrote in their 2009 research paper as follows: “The fear of public speaking (i.e., speaking before a group) is a specific, communication-based anxiety in which individuals experience physiological arousal, negative cognitions, or behavioural responses to real or anticipated presentations.” But the reality is the modern-day professional will have to make one type of presentation of the other, meaning he or she should challenge oneself to present better. Indeed, the above and other common negative responses can be alleviated by adequate preparation for and rehearsal of imminent presentations.

On completion of this course – You will be able to

  • Dealing with presentation anxiety
  • Planning for presentations and developing the right content
  • Managing an audience’s needs and expectations
